Trojans eliminated at nationals

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Hannibal-LaGrange University men's wrestling team sent two wrestlers to the NAIA national tournament, with Nigel Burnett earning a victory in the consolation bracket.

At 174 pounds, HLGU's Jeremiah Reed suffered a 16-0 technical fall in 6:58 against Missouri Valley's Cody Carson. In the consolation round, Reed (26-13) lost to Reinhardt's Michael Carew 6-2.

At 285 pounds, HLGU's Nigel Burnett lost 6-1 to Missouri Valley's Jesse Gomez in the opening round. In the consolation bracket, Burnett earned a 3-2 decision over Calumet's Nick Fowler. He then lost 4-2 in sudden victory to OCU's Gaige Johnson.

Burnett finished with a 27-21 record.
