QUINCY -- It's all about giving back.

Quincy University's senior class is keeping a tradition alive with an April 27 fundraiser that will provide a gift to be presented to the school next month.

"The goal is to raise $15,000," said Pilar Yates Brumbaugh, the university's coordinator of annual giving and alumni services.

The fundraiser is titled "QU Uncorked" and is scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m. April 27 at Revelry/Park Bench, 121 N. Fourth, across the street west of Washington Park.

The wine and beer tasting will feature live music and a silent auction, plus refreshments for purchase.

Tickets will include entry to the event and up to three tastings of wine or beer, a commemorative glass and a selection of appetizers.

Tickets are $20 for nonstudents and $15 for students. Organizers say the event is open to anyone 21 or older.

The class will present proceeds from the fundraiser Friday, May 11, the day before graduation.

Last year, the event raised $10,000.

This is the second year a senior class fundraiser has been held off campus. Before 2017, the senior class spring fundraisers were on campus.

"The university is always grateful to its seniors for an event like this," QU President Phil Conover said. "It is a great partnership, a great thing. The seniors always want to give back to the school for the four years they spent here."
