Hannibal residents injured in Monroe County crash

MADISON, Mo. -- Two Hannibal, Mo., residents suffered injuries in a one-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Carl L. Gillespie, 85, was driving his 2016 Ford Focus at 2:10 p.m. northbound on Mo. 151, south of Madison, when the vehicle traveled off the road, struck a driveway and overturned.

The report said both Gillespie and his passenger, Marilyn B. Gillespie, 83, were wearing seat belts. Carl Gillespie suffered minor injuries, and his wife, Marilyn, suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken to Moberly Regional Hospital in Moberly, Mo. The vehicle was totaled.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and Madison Fire Department.
