Stephen and Sharon Stump of 1135 N. Ninth have observed their 40th wedding anniversary.
They were married June 16, 1978, at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Mrs. Stump, the former Sharon Klues, is a daughter of the late Virgil and Florence (Mettemeyer) Klues. Mr. Stump is a son of the late Charles Laurel and Maureen (Arnold) Stump.
They are the parents of Matthew Stump and wife, Aleeza Granote, of Fenton, Mo., Rebecca Shinn and husband, Ryan, of Quincy, Elizabeth Torres and husband, Jose, of Prescott, Ariz., Peter Stump of Iowa City, Iowa, John Stumpf and wife, Meghan, of Golden, Colo., and Brian Stump of New York City. They have seven grandchildren.
Mr. Stump is employed by Menards. He was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1976, former president of Right to Life of Adams County and former Scout leader for Troop 1 of the Saukee Area Council, now Mississippi Valley Council, of Boy Scouts of America.
Mrs. Stump is employed by Wal-Mart. She enjoys music, walks and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
They are members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
