Larry and Cheryl Buckert of rural Hamilton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house/reception from 2 to 5 p.m. July 21 at the Hamilton Community Center, 1680 Keokuk St., Hamilton. Family and friends are invited; the couple requests no gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Buckert were married July 21, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage.
Mrs. Buckert, the former Cheryl Johnson, is a daughter of the late Chris and Dorothy Johnson. Mr. Buckert is a son of the late Alvin and Marie Buckert.
They are the parents of Lance (Julie) Buckert of Chicago and Wade (Jamie) Buckert of Batavia. They have four grandchildren.
Mr. Buckert remains an active farmer in the Hamilton area. He serves as vice president of Carthage Mutual Insurance, was a founder of Western Illinois Threshers in 1968, served on Wythe Township Board for 28 years, owned and operated Buckert Tent Rentals, and also worked as tax consultant in Keokuk, Iowa, during the tax season.
Mrs. Buckert taught at Camp Point Central High School and Hamilton High School. She owned and operated Custom Engraving, and for the past 21 years worked for the Sullivan family auction businesses.
