John and Barbara Blickhan of 2689 E. 1250th St., Mendon, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Storeroom in Mendon. Their children will host the event. Family and friends are invited; they request no gifts.
Mr. Blickhan and the former Barbara Hagerbaumer were married Aug. 8, 1953, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
Mrs. Blickhan is a daughter of the late Paul and Louise Hagerbaumer. Mr. Blickhan is a son of the late Anselm and Clara Blickhan.
They are the parents of Janet Stuckman of Quincy, Judy (Jeff) Marlow of Ballwin, Mo., Kent (Lisa) Blickhan of Shelbyville, Mo., Donna (Terry) Hurshman of West Liberty, Iowa, Kevin Blickhan of Quincy, Carol (Robert) Hastings of Quincy, Christopher (Rita) Blickhan of Mendon, Craig (Melissa) Blickhan of Fowler and the late Deborah Blickhan. They have 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a grandson is deceased.
Mr. Blickhan retired from Speedrack after 28 years of service and from farming. He is the owner of South Fork Pallet and Lumber. He is a member of St. Edward's Bloomfield Cemetery Association and is a charter member of the Olde Tyme Association.
Mrs. Blickhan, a homemaker, retired in 2001 as a certified nursing assistant at Sunset Home. She is a volunteer at North Adams Home and enjoys traveling, photography, gardening, sewing and attending their grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events.
They are members of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon and enjoy church activities.
