The Quincy High School volleyball team opened its season with a 25-15, 25-10 victory over Chatham Glenwood, giving first-year coach Tiffaney Rains a win in her coaching debut Thursday night.
Alexis Wolf had five kills, three blocks and an ace, while DeOnna Douglas had 13 assists. Emma Sparrow added three kills and four blocks for the Blue Devils.
Illini West d. Brown County: Gracie McDowell led the Chargers with 10 kills and 24 digs in a 23-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory the Hornets. Kendra Johnson added 10 assists and 14 digs for the Chargers. Claire Markert led the Hornets with six kills and 13 digs.
Quincy Notre Dame d. West Hancock: The Raiders started quickly and didn't let up in a 25-12, 25-7 victory. Taylor Keck had eight kills for the Raiders, while Maddie Peters dished out 12 assists.
Central d. Griggsville-Perry: Lauren Gille recorded seven aces and 20 service points as the Panthers won 25-4, 25-12 on the road. Kennady Marlow added eight kills for Central. Caitlyn Downey had two kills for the Tornadoes.
South County d. Western: Despite 10 kills from Tori Predmore, South County topped Western 25-13, 18-25, 25-19. Aftyn Harrison added 21 digs for the Wildcats in their opener.
Jacksonville Routt d. Pleasant Hill: The Wolves struggled offensively in their first game of the season in a 25-6, 25-11 setback.
