College Roundup: QU starts season with two victories in Arkansas

The Quincy University women's volleyball team won twice to open the season in Magnolia, Ark., on Friday, defeating Cameron 25-23, 25-17, 25-22, and Union 25-10, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19.

Taylor McMonagle led the Hawks with 10 kills against Cameron. Sara Rathburn had 29 assists, and Sarah Blair had 16 digs. Quincy faced a 22-19 deficit in the third set against Union but rallied, then won 10 of the final 11 points in the fourth set to seal the victory. Lauren Nadler had 13 kills for the Hawks, and Baylie Stephens had 11 kills. Rathburn had 42 assists and 16 digs, and Blair had 25 digs.

Silver Dollar City Tournament: Culver-Stockton College lost to Southwestern Assemblies of God 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 15-10 but defeated Hannibal-LaGrange University 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22 at Point Lookout, Mo., on Friday afternoon. Gabby Hickman had 20 kills in the first game and 14 against the Trojans.
