Presley Stoneburner's inside-the-park home run to lead off the game was a sign of things to come as North Shelby defeated Novinger 28-15 in a high school softball game on Monday in Novinger, Mo.

North Shelby led 8-5 after the first two innings, then scored seven runs in the third and eight runs in the fourth. Hannah Wahl recorded three hits and four RBIs, including an inside-the-park homer in the fourth inning. Stoneburner had another inside-the-park home run as well.

Canton 15, Louisiana 1: Tegan Burbridge's first-inning bases-loaded triple set the tone for the Tigers, who scored five runs in the first and added seven runs over the next two innings in a victory at Louisiana. The Bulldogs' only run came on Autumn Castagna's RBI single. Burbridge drove in five runs and was a home run short of the cycle. Abby Jarvis had two hits, including a three-run home run in the third.

Monroe City 17, Mark Twain 1: McKenzie West had four hits and five RBIs as the Panthers won in three innings on Monday night at home. West recorded a double, two triples and a home run. The Panthers grabbed the lead early with five runs in the first inning and put the game away with nine runs in what would be the third inning.

La Plata 9, Marion County 1: Karissa Kennedy scored the Mustangs' only run on a passed ball in the fourth inning in their home opener. La Plata jumped to a 4-0 lead with two RBI doubles in the first inning, then put the game away with three more runs in the fifth off two RBI triples.

Knox County 3, South Shelby 1: Katie Hamlin gave up one run in the first inning before retiring the rest of the batters she faced in a victory at Shelbina. Diane Mayes and Autumn Blackford hit back-to-back doubles to give the Lady Birds a 1-0 lead in the first. Knox County evened the score in the sixth off an error, and Sidney Miller knocked in the go-ahead runs on a two-RBI single.

Kirksville 11, Clark County 2: The Tigers had 13 hits in a victory at Kahoka. Two errors by the Indians allowed Kirksville to spring out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Jade Ross had an RBI double as part of a two-run fifth inning for the Indians, but the Tigers scored three runs in both the sixth and seventh inning. Isiabell Acklie led the Indians with two hits.

Putnam County 17, Scotland County 8: After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Tigers allowed six runs in the bottom of the second inning in a loss at Unionville, Mo. Scotland County closed to within 11-8 in the sixth inning, thanks in part to Hannah Feeney's two-run double. Putnam County then responded with six more runs in the bottom of the inning. Katie Feeney led the Tigers with three hits, while Kaitlyn McMinn added two hits and two RBIs.

Bowling Green 13, Hannibal 6: The Pirates let a five-run lead slip away at home. Hannibal scored all six of its runs in the second inning to take a 6-1 lead, but Bowling Green responded with a six-run inning of its own in the third inning. Lauren Haye had two hits for the Pirates.
