Bailey Lovelace had a single, a double, two triples and four runs batted in to lead the Palmyra softball team to a 15-0 victory over Louisiana on Tuesday at home.
Six different players had multiple hits for Palmyra (2-1), which had eight hits as part of a seven-run second inning. A four-run fourth inning ended the game with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Lauren VanTress did not give up a hit in four innings of work. Megan Stone hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Lexi Arch had two hits and three RBIs. Faith Rule was the only Louisiana (0-2) player to reach base, drawing a lead-off walk in the fourth inning.
Bowling Green 7, Highland 0: Sarah Harnes had three hits and three RBIs for the Tigers, and she also struck out 15 batters in the home victory. Harnes singled to center field to drive in two runs in the first inning. Highland committed four errors and was limited to four hits, two of those hits coming from Gabby Brown.
Canton 12, Clopton 2: Hunter Collins had three hits and drove in two runs for the Tigers at Clopton. Canton had 10 hits, and Clopton made five errors. The Tigers' Riley Marshell broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning when she scored on Collins' single. Canton (2-0) sent 14 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored nine runs to end the game. Abby Jarvis allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out five and surrendering no walks.
Knox County 17, North Shelby 2: The Eagles sent 15 batters to the plate in a 10-run fourth inning. Twelve straight hitters reached base at one point. Tadym Mason had two hits, four RBIs and three runs scored. She had a two-run triple as part of a three-run first inning. Sidney Miller and Savannah Mauck both had two hits for the Eagles (2-0).
Schuyler County 4, Clark County 2: After giving up two runs in the first inning, Schuyler County pitcher Chloe Buckallew held Clark County to two hits and no runs over the final six innings. Marissa Buckallew hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third, and Ashlee Youngman doubled in two runs in the fourth to put the Rams on top. Allison Engle's steal of home doubled the Rams' lead to 4-2.
Clark County (0-2) got back-to-back two-out singles in the top of the seventh, but Nicole Plenge flew out to center field to end the game. Abby Ellison had two hits, including a first-inning double to score the Indians' only runs. The Indians' Alexis Ellison struck out 13 in six innings.
