The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team defeated Blackburn 25-20, 25-22, 26-24 on Saturday to finish the Illinois College Tournament in Jacksonville with a 3-0 record. Gabby Hickman had 13 kills. Maryanna Catrine totaled seven kills, 12 digs and 14 set assists, while Paige Webster tallied six kills. Kendra Gengenbacher recorded 20 set assists. The Wildcats (6-3) have won five straight matches.
JWCC splits: The Trail Blazers recorded their first victory by beating Iowa Lakes 32-30, 25-23, 13-25, 13-25, 15-12 before falling to Southeastern 25-15, 25-22, 25-10 in the Jimmy Johns Tournament at West Burlington, Iowa. Shayla Darnell led JWCC against Iowa Lakes with 17 kills, while Anna Peters added 13. Kailey Owsley finished with 27 digs and Paige Perrine had 14 digs. Anna Peters had six kills against Southeastern, while Owsley had 13 digs and Haley Hickerson added 12 digs.
QU loses twice: The Hawks dropped two matches in Indianapolis, falling to Colorado School of Mines 25-17, 25-23, 25-21 and Upper Iowa 25-20, 19-25, 26-24, 27-25 Saturday. Sarah Brown led QU (5-3) against Colorado School of Mines with 10 kills, while Marissa Gonzalez had 14 digs and Sara Rathbun handed out 30 assists. Brown led four QU players with double-digit kills against Upper Iowa, finishing with 18. Taylor McMonagle had 23 digs, and Sarah Blair finished with 21 digs.
HLGU loses two: Hannibal-LaGrange lost to Mount Mercy 25-10, 25-10, 25-23 and Clarke 25-14, 25-17, 25-11 at the Avila Tournament in Kansas City on Saturday. After scoring just 20 points in the first two sets against Mount Mercy, the Trojans (2-10) tied the third set at 23 before losing. HLGU led 14-11 in the second set against Clarke before losing that match. Ashlyn Spay had 10 digs and seven kills to lead the Trojans.
