Pirates' lead slips away in loss to Fulton

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Fulton softball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth and held off Hannibal to win 4-3 in a North Central Missouri Conference game at Veterans Sports Complex.

Josie Zeiger hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning to give Hannibal a 3-1 lead. In the sixth, Alex Trowbridge hit a two-run double and scored on Rylee Baker's single to put the Hornets ahead 4-3.

The Pirates (1-4) ended the game with runners at first and second.

Hannibal scored its first two runs in the third when Taylor Simms scored on Sydney Hart's bunt. Hart later scored on Avery Lake's single.

Zeiger finished with two hits. Taylor Wilson went the distance, striking out five batters, walking one and scattering six hits.
