Missouri roundup: Alexander interception sparks Palmyra to 3-0 start

Jarom Alexander picked off a pass by Centralia quarterback John Durant three minutes into the game and returned it for the first touchdown of the game to help spur Palmyra to a 28-8 victory on the road in a Clarence Cannon Conference game.

Jacob Kroeger ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the second quarter, then later found Abe Haerr with a 29-yard touchdown pass to help Palmyra (3-0, 2-0 CCC) take a 21-0 lead at halftime.

Alexander ran for a 9-yard touchdown in the third quarter to cap the Palmyra scoring. The Panthers had 251 yards of total offense, sparked by Kroeger's 102 yards on 21 carries, while the Palmyra defense limited Centralia (1-2, 1-2 CCC) to just 138 yards of total offense.

Hannibal 49, Bolivar 12: Damien French and JaQuez McGruder each scored three touchdowns to lead the Pirates at home. Hannibal took a 14-0 first quarter lead after French ran for a pair of touchdowns. French scored again to start the second quarter, and McGruder extended Hannibal's lead to 35-0 at halftime with two more scores. McGruder ran for 145 yards, and French added 86 yards.

Macon 32, South Shelby 0: Nash Waller tossed two touchdown passes and ran for 64 yards to lead the Tigers to a Clarence Cannon Conference victory. Waller scored on a 7-yard run to open the scoring early in the second quarter, and he later tossed a 47-yard touchdown to Chrisjen Riekeberg. Tynan Mitchell also scored a second-quarter touchdown on a 14-yard run as Macon led 20-0 at halftime. Mitchell had 73 rushing yards. South Shelby was limited to 77 yards rushing and lost four fumbles.

Bowling Green 35, Mark Twain 14: Austin Callahan rushed for four touchdowns, with three of them 50 yards or longer, as the Bobcats won an Eastern Missouri Conference game at home. Callahan had a 26-yard score in the first quarter, a 52-yard score and a 79-yard score in the second quarter, and a 63-yard run in the third quarter. Logan Perrigo rushed for 101 yards and scored a touchdown for Mark Twain (1-2).

Scotland County 26, Paris 0: Jaydan Payne ran for 81 yards and a touchdown to lead the Tigers on the road. The Tigers took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 20-0 by halftime. Will Fromm had 58 yards rushing for Scotland County, and Kaden Anders caught five passes for 55 yards.

Monroe City 40, Highland 0: Zach Osborn rushed for 203 yards and scored three touchdowns to pace the Panthers to a Clarence Cannon Conference victory in the Cougars' first game on its turf field at Ewing. Osborn scored the first three touchdowns of the game on runs of 48, 6 and 93 yards, and Monroe City (3-0, 3-0 CCC) led 32-0 at the half. Chance Newton had 114 yards rushing for Highland (0-3).

Westran 41, Knox County 6: Koby Coonce returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, while Alex Young passed for one touchdown and ran for three more as the Hornets, ranked No. 1 in the Class 1 state poll, cruised to victory in a Lewis and Clark Conference game that was moved to Central Methodist University in Fayette.

Norborne/Hardin Central 28, North Shelby 22: The Raiders lost at home. No other information was available at presstime.
