The Hannibal volleyball team defeated Marshall 25-14, 26-24 in a North Central Missouri Conference match and its first home match of the season on Saturday in Korf Gym.
The Pirates led by eight points in the second set before allowing Marshall to tie the game at 24. Hannibal scored the final two points off a service error and a kill from Peyton Utterback. Kyler Rademan led the Pirates with 14 assists, along with four kills, four digs and two aces. Kaylee Falconer had seven assists, five digs and four kills. Maddie Janes had nine digs and three kills, and Claire Thomas added seven kills. The Pirates (3-0) have won 21 consecutive conference matches during the past three years.
Lincoln Tournament: Quincy Notre Dame won two of three matches on Saturday, finished the weekend 4-1 and placed fifth in the 16-team event.
The Raiders started Saturday with a 26-24, 25-10 loss to O'Fallon in their final pool match. QND led 15-10 in the first set before O'Fallon rallied to tie the score by forcing several Raiders errors. Sydney Hummert led the Raiders (8-1) with seven kills, while Taylor Keck had 11 digs and Meredith Siebers made three blocks.
In the fifth-place bracket, QND beat Bartonville Limestone 25-15, 25-21 and Peoria Notre Dame 25-15, 25-21. Hummert, an all-tournament selection, had six kills against Limestone and 15 kills and nine digs in the PND match. Keck served three aces against PND.
The Raiders started the tournament Friday by defeating Danville 25-12, 25-10 and East Peoria 25-12, 25-14.
North Scott Invitational: The Quincy High School volleyball team lost three games in Eldridge, Iowa on Saturday, falling to Bettendorf 17-21, 21-9, 15-7, Union 21-16, 21-10 and North Scott 21-14, 14-21, 15-12.
De'Onna Douglas led QHS with 29 assists and two aces, and Hannah Beeler had 11 kills and nine digs. Kayla Hoener added 12 kills and four digs for the Blue Devils (6-7).
