College roundup: C-SC places eighth at Klocke Family Classic

The Culver-Stockton College women's golf team shot a 381 Sunday to finish eighth out of 10 teams in the Klocke Family Classic, hosted by Mount Mercy College at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa.

The Wildcats finished with a two-day total of 747. Haley Haugh led C-SC by placing ninth with a 166. Kelsey Rees tied for 27th with an 85, followed by Grace Frese (tied for 33rd, 188) and Reece Gentry (41st, 208).

Iowa Western Community College won the team title with a 658. Iowa Western was led by medalist Lisa Lied, who shot a 148.

Screaming Eagle Golf Classic: Emily Van Rie of Quincy University is in a tie for 12th place following Sunday's first round of a 36-team tournament hosted by Southern Indiana at Cambridge Golf Course in Evansville, Ind.

Van Rie, who is tied with Lexie Shaw of Trevecca Nazarene, shot a 6-over-par 78. Madison Hill of Lewis leads the field with a 4-under 68.

QU is ninth after shooting a 335. Hannah Maguire is tied for 22nd place with an 82, and Victoria Hays is tied for 32nd with an 85.

Lewis leads the 12-team event with a 304. The tournament concludes Monday.
