Prep roundup: Ellison has four hits in Clark County rout

Kiara Brunk allowed only three hits through five innings, and Abby Ellison had four hits as the Clark County softball team defeated Mark Twain 15-0 on Monday night in Center, Mo. The Indians (2-3) started fast, scoring seven runs in the first inning thanks to RBI doubles by Ellison, Katelyn Kirchner, Madison Bergman and Nicole Plenge, as well as an RBI single from Brunk. Aubry Boulware later hit a home run for Clark County. The Tigers are winless after five games.

Highland 13, Louisiana 1: Lauren Merrell recorded five RBIs in the Cougars' first victory at home. She also allowed just one earned run on four hits to earn the victory. The Cougars (1-5) broke a tie score by scoring 12 runs in the fourth inning. Addy Johnson drove in two runs and had two hits for Highland.

Monroe City 19, Paris 0: Lauren Youngblood had four hits and two RBIs as the Panthers needed just three innings to win on the road. Monroe City scored 14 of its 19 runs in the first inning that was highlighted by a grand slam from Bailee Hays. Riley Quinn pitched the shutout for Monroe City, allowing just one hit while striking out one.

Marion County 9, Wellsville 6: A six-run third inning helped the Mustangs win in Philadelphia, Mo. Delaney Straus led the Mustangs with three runs scored, a stolen base and a double. Halle Keilholz threw a complete game, allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out eight.

Madison 16, North Shelby 7: The Raiders were down 9-0 when they scored six runs in the fourth inning, but a seven-run sixth inning put the game away for Madison at Shelbyville, Mo. Jaylea Barrick had a RBI single to start the fourth inning. Two Raiders were hit by pitches with the bases loaded, then Presley Stoneburner plated a runner with an RBI single. Nicole Pantaleo then had a two-run double. Jacey Trenhaile's RBI triple in the fifth inning cut the score to 9-7.
