Two passengers injured in crash near Monroe City

MONROE CITY, Mo. -- Two passengers suffered minor injuries when a towed unit collided with a vehicle Saturday near Monroe City.

Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators said David L. Wietholder, 45, of Liberty, Ill., was driving a 1995 Freightliner east on Route W about three miles east of Monroe City at 9:45 p.m. Friday. The unit he was towing ran off the road, returned to the road and struck a 2018 GMC Terrain driven by Rodney R. Coffman, 58, of Holliday, heading west.

Brenda J. Hoffman, 58, of Holliday, and Betty A. Kellogg, 58, of Madison, both had minor injuries and were taken by Monroe County EMS to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
