HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Hannibal Regional Auxiliary will host its fifth annual "Glitz Gala" jewelry auction Oct. 4 at the Hannibal Arts Council.
The doors open at 5 p.m., and the auction begins at 6.
Tickets costing $25 each are required to attend. The admission price includes appetizers, wine and the chance to win various door prizes, including jewelry items, a jewelry box, hand-made pottery, a pedicure or a skin care treatment.
Tickets can be bought by calling 573-248-5272.
Various donated items will be up for auction. Participants may view the items before the bidding begins.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help the Hannibal Regional Auxiliary pay for the James E. Cary Cancer Center's new linear accelerator. The accelerator has opened the door to new cancer treatments and procedures in the area.
Last year's Glitz Gala raised about $13,000 to support the auxiliary's efforts.
The auxiliary was formed in 1993 to help patients, families and hospital visitors in various ways. Since that year, the auxiliary has raised more than $2 million to support hospital services and provide improvements in equipment.
The auxiliary's 260 members not only raise money to benefit the hospital, but they also provide about 25,000 hours of service each year.
The main sponsor of the Glitz Gala is the Century 21 Broughton Team. Other sponsors are Advance Physical Therapy, Mark Twain Casino, General Mills, Northwestern Mutual, the Olive Branch, Griffen's Flowers, County Market, Fiddlestiks and Jim Quinlin Auctioneer Services.
