LEWISTOWN, Mo. -- An Arnold man was killed after being shot early Saturday morning in what is being called an accident.

Randell J. Reising, 52, was pronounced dead at 5:22 a.m. by Lewis County Coroner Larry Arnold.

Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish said deputies were called about 4:20 a.m. to 19920 Route Y in rural Lewistown to a report of a man being shot. Upon arrival, a deputy discovered a man, identified as Reising, who was dead.

Parrish said a preliminary investigation determined Reising was in a hunting cabin with friends. After waking up at 4 a.m. to prepare for the morning hunt, he was accidentally shot by a fellow hunter, also of Arnold.

The investigation continues, and an autopsy will be performed by the Boone County medical examiner's office.

Assisting at the scene was the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Lewis County Ambulance Service.
