QUINCY -- The Adams County Treasurer's Office will accept real estate property tax prepayments, for taxes payable in 2019, through Dec. 31.

Prepayments will bear a receipt date in 2018.

In a change from previous years, taxpayers now may prepay taxes up to the full amount of their previous year's tax bill, rather than only up to the full dollar amount. For example, if a taxpayer's prior year bill was $500.77, they now may prepay that full amount rather than only up to $500 as previously had been allowed.

The office will accept prepayment in-person or by mail. If paying in-person, enter the Adams County Courthouse through the Fifth Street entrance. Prepayments sent by mail must be postmarked on or before Dec. 31. If paying on multiple parcels, please provide the parcel number and taxes paid for each parcel.

The treasurer's office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25.

More information is available by calling 217-277-2245.
