Thomas Culp and Blake Peter won their respective weight classes, helping the Quincy High School wrestling team to a fourth-place finish at the 49th annual Mascoutah Wrestling Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Culp won the 182-pound weight class after he defeated Mount Vernon's Gabriel Taylor 6-2 in overtime in the championship match. He pinned East Alton's Hunter Morales in 56 seconds in the semifinals.
Blake Peter won the 113-pound weight class in an overtime match, beating Champaign Central's Carter Hall.
Hunter Yohn took second place in the 160-pound bracket after falling in an 8-3 decision to Champaign Central's Dalton Hall in the championship. J.C. Lackey took second at 195 pounds after he was pinned by Triad's Kaleb Port in 4:38.
Battle of Katy Trail: Palmyra's Ross Arch won the 145-pound weight class and helped the Panthers to a 13th-place finish in Sedalia, Mo.
Arch defeated Lathrop's Tanner Dalinghaus 6-0 in the championship match. Arch went 4-0 on the day after securing two pins, and defeating Mid-Buchanan's Chase Davidson 10-5 in the semifinals.
Kaden Crane took fourth at 106 pounds after being pinned by Knob Noster's Sam Wilhelm in 1:36 in the semifinals, and suffering a 7-0 setback to Gallatin's Andon Allen in the third-place match.
Fort Zumwalt East Tournament: Tanner Leonard was the lone winner as Hannibal finished sixth out of 20 teams in St. Peters, Mo.
Leonard won the 160-pound weight class in a 4-2 decision over Waynesville's Gaven Sax. Leonard advanced to the championship match when his opponent suffered an injury in the semifinal match.
Trevor Wilson (160), Vernell Hawkins (170) and Tyler Leonard (132) each finished third for the Pirates.
Fort Madison Invitational: Illini West's Santos Castillo took fifth place in the 170-pound weight class in the Fort Madison, Iowa.
Castillo won two of three matches in pool, and his pin of Cedar Rapids Kennedy's Jay Oostendorp in 4:40 sealed his placement.
