Raiders struggle to score in loss

BETHALTO, Ill. -- Sydney Hummert scored nine points, but the Quincy Notre Dame girls basketball team struggled to score Saturday. in a 52-25 loss to Highland in the Civic Memorial Shootout.

Highland (10-2), who is receiving votes in the Class 3A polls, made eight field goals, five from beyond the 3-point line, and led 21-9 after the first quarter.

QND (8-2) held the Bulldogs to just three field goals in the second quarter, but was still outscored and trailed 29-16 at halftime.

Highland opened the second half on a 12-3 run to put the game out of reach. Hummert scored all three of QND's points in the third quarter.

Maddie Peters added six points for QND.
