MONROE CITY, Mo. -- A Thursday afternoon crash involving a train injured a Monroe City teen.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Olivia S. Kiser, 21, of Monroe City, was traveling north on Hazzard Lane, 3 miles southeast of Monroe City, at 3:30 p.m. The patrol said the vehicle failed to stop at a railroad crossing and struck the right front side of a westbound 1999 Norfolk Southern train driven by Ryan R. Cobb, 44, of Moberly.

A passenger in the Malibu, Alexis M. Ytell, 17, of Monroe City, was taken by Monroe City Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Ytell and Kiser were not wearing seat belts, the patrol said.

The patrol was assisted by the Ralls county Sheriff's Department and Monroe City Fire and Ambulance.
