QUINCY -- Amy Grawe is finding most days to be some sort of a combination of "busy and excited."
Amy and her husband, John, became owners of Bailey's Coffee House and Fudge Shop on Jan. 1.
Amy has added what once was a side business of her own -- iced perfection cookies -- to the menu at Bailey's, strengthening what she felt was already a solid offering of coffees, fudges, pastries, wraps, salads, quiche and other items.
"Our goal is to simply keep growing the business," she said.
Amy is coordinating the culinary division of Bailey's, at 3024 Broadway, just northwest of the Staples office supply store. John is charged with the business and marketing ends of the operation.
"This was a good opportunity to get the cookies out there, and my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith," Amy said. "We're keeping everything else that was (on the menu) and adding our cookies."
Amy said she contacted former owner Renee Higgins about a year ago, and as their conversations progressed, so did the opportunity for the Grawes to take over the business.
"It just feels right," said Amy, who praised Higgins' assistance with helping her and John learn the ins and outs of the business.
Amy said one of her goals is to bolster the online presence of Bailey's, a business that dates to 2003 and was formerly on 36th Street just south of the site that once housed Blockbuster Video. The business moved to its current location a little more than 10 years ago.
Bailey's hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
"We're studying those hours and may be open later in the future, but we have not made any decision yet," Amy said.
