Prep roundup: Highland rallies to win CCC game

The Highland girls basketball team trailed 45-40 entering the fourth quarter but rallied to defeat Clark County 56-51 in a Clarence Canon Conference game in Ewing, Mo. The Cougars (17-3, 5-1) won the final period 16-8, making all six of their free throws in the quarter. Kennedy Flanagan led the Cougars with 18 points, and Kaitlin Benson added 15 points. Clark County (15-8, 3-4) was led by Aubry Boulware's 15 points.

Van-Far 53, Mark Twain 45: The Tigers lost in the Class 2 District 5 quarterfinals in Elsberry. Elizabeth Trower and Paige Eddington each scored 10 points for Mark Twain, which ends its season with an 8-16 record. Van-Far advances to play top-seeded Clopton at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The Hawks (23-3) rolled past Louisiana 72-32 in a quarterfinal game on Saturday. The Bulldogs end their season with a 4-20 record.

Canton 70, Marion County 35: Lauren Frazier led the Tigers with 23 points in their home victory. Canton built a 31-20 halftime lead, then outscored the Mustangs 39-15 in the second half. Laken Hugenberg scored 18 points for Canton, while Tegan Burbridge added 15 points. Marion County was led by Payton Hays with 11 points.

Knox County 56, Harrisburg 53: The Eagles led 26-9 after one quarter, making five 3-pointers to start the game. Harrisburg got back to within 44-41 entering the fourth quarter, but the Eagles made 10 out of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on in a Lewis and Clark Conference game. Sidney Miller scored 17 points, Riley Stranger added 14 and Tadym Mason added 11 for Knox County (15-7, 6-2). Sydney Fischer finished with 16 points for Harrisburg (4-20, 2-5).
