Kirby Latimer scored with 7.6 seconds remaining in regulation as the North Shelby boys basketball team outlasted Community R-VI 60-59 in the semifinals of the Class 1 District 10 tournament Thursday night in Ladonnia, Mo.

The Raiders trailed by one with 20 seconds remaining and set up a play for a lob to Dayton Mettes. The pass missed the mark, but Mettes caught it and reversed the ball to Mason Uhlmeyer, who got the ball to Latimer on the block. He muscled through a triple team to score for the go-ahead basket.

North Shelby tipped the ball away from a Community R-VI guard near midcourt, but the ball bounced forward and the Warriors were able to get a shot off and collect the offensive rebound. The clock ran out before they could get a second chance at the shot.

Latimer led the Raiders with 14 points. North Shelby (11-11) will face Wellsville-Middletown at 5 p.m. Saturday in the championship game.

Wellsville-Middletown boys 58, Canton 52: After holding Wellsville to eight points in the first quarter, the Tigers couldn't maintain the defensive intensity and allowed 30 points in the second half of the loss in the Class 1 District 10 semifinals in Ladonnia, Mo. Brody Smith scored 15 points for Canton (14-10), while Ben McKenzie and Sam Arnold added 12 points apiece.

Milan boys 57, Knox County 33: Trailing by 11 after the first quarter, the Eagles scored just one point in the second quarter and were eliminated in the Class 2 District 6 semifinals in Queen City, Mo., by the top-seeded and second-ranked Wildcats (25-0). Connor Hayes led Knox County (8-16) with 16 points.

Knox County girls 61, Princeton 56: Riley Strange dropped 22 points as the Eagles advanced to the championship game of the Class 2 District 6 tournament in Queen City, Mo. Knox County went 11 of 12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to maintain its edge. Sidney Miller added 21 points for the Eagles (17-7), who will play Scotland County at 3:15 p.m. Saturday for the title.

But trailing 62-60 with five seconds remaining, HLGU threw away an inbounds pass and never got a chance to take the lead in the American Midwest Conference loss in Fulton, Mo. Ryan Ward led the Trojans (16-10, 14-7 AMC) with 28 points, going 8 of 11 from 3-point range. Brady Smith added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, while Tyrone Hueitt Jr. had 10 points.
