QUINCY -- The Quincy University men's volleyball team was one point away from victory but lost to Lindenwood 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 10-15 in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match on Tuesday in Pepsi Arena.
The Hawks (4-12, 0-6 MIVA) made four errors as a part of a 5-0 run to let the Lions take the fourth set. Omari Wheeler, who led QU with 15 kills, committed a service error and two attack errors during that stretch.
QU led 21-20 in the first set and scored four of the final five points. Adam Rogan, who had 47 assists, had a kill late in the second set to pull the Hawks within 24-23, but the Lions took the set on a kill by Lindenwood's Nick Stevenson. The score was tied 11-11 in the third set, but QU had two four-point runs to take the set. In the fifth set, LU led 10-6 and QU could never get within striking distance.
Noam Hannoun had 22 digs, and Stevie Bresser added 14 kills for QU.
Graceland 3, Culver-Stockton 1: Daniel Fohey had 14 kills for the Wildcats in their 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21 loss to Graceland in a Heart of America Athletic Conference game on Tuesday night in Canton, Mo.
C-SC (2-11, 0-5) trailed 23-19 in the first set, but three consecutive points got the Wildcats within one points and forced a Graceland timeout. Graceland then scored back-to-back points to take the first set. C-SC led 23-20 in the second set, but rallied to tie the score at 23. Fohey had a kill, and Graceland committed an attack error for C-SC to take the second set.
Graceland took an 8-1 lead in the third set and wasn't threatened. Culver-Stockton trailed 22-18 in the fourth set but came within two points after a Fohey kill and a Graceland attack error, but the Yellow Jackets scored three of the next four points to take the game.
Shaquille Barker had nine kills for C-SC. Jayden Happel had 29 set assists and added eight digs for the Wildcats.
