PERU, Neb. -- The Culver-Stockton College men's basketball team recovered from Peru State's first scoring run in the opening half Thursday night.

C-SC couldn't recover from a second run.

Peru State closed the first half on a 14-2 run in the final five minutes before halftime, pulling away to beat C-SC 91-69 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals in Al Wheeler Activity Center. Seventh-seeded C-SC ends its season at 16-16, while No. 24 Peru State will play third-seeded William Penn at 7 p.m. Saturday in the tournament's semifinals.

Peru State (21-10) had used an 11-1 run earlier in the first half to create a 30-16 advantage over C-SC. However, the Wildcats whittled the deficit down to 37-32 with 4:49 remaining after a basket by Mike Johnson. C-SC went cold, making one of its next eight shots, as Peru State pulled ahead to a 51-34 lead going to the locker room.

The Wildcats opened the second half with five straight points, but the Bobcats answered with 13 straight points to go up 64-39.

C-SC never got closer than 16 points in the final 12:24.
