Trojans blanked twice in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Hannibal-LaGrange University softball team suffered a pair of shutout losses Thursday in the PFXA Spring Games.

HLGU opened with a 5-0 loss to Northwestern Ohio, and that was followed by a 9-0 setback to Cardinal Stritch.

The Trojans (4-7) had just five hits in the opening loss to the Racers.

Their best chance came in the seventh inning as Kendra Jacob and Samantha Zielinski had one-out singles. A double play ended the game.

Northwestern Ohio broke a scoreless game with a two-run fourth inning, and it added three more runs in the fifth.

HLGU had just two hits against Cardinal Stritch. The first hit didn't come until Allison Matlock's one-out double in the bottom of the third.

Cardinal Stritch blew the game open with a seven-run first inning for all the runs it needed.
