QUINCY -- A 53-year-old Hannibal, Mo., man was killed Tuesday when he lost control of a pickup truck he was driving on Interstate 172.

James Troy Noland's 2000 Ford pickup crashed at 3:44 p.m. near milepost 2 while traveling south.

An Illinois State Police report said the vehicle slid out of control in the grass and rocky shoulder before re-entering the road and overturning. Noland was ejected from the vehicle.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash is being investigated by the ISP and Adams County Coroner's Office as a possible medical incident, pending autopsy results. The ISP report said officers were called to the area shortly before the crash after receiving reports of a reckless driver who was later determined to be Noland.

Noland was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Other assisting agencies included the Adams County Sheriff's Department, Adams County EMS, Payson Fire and Rescue and the Hannibal Police Department.
