QUINCY -- A 20-year-old Quincy man was sentenced to a combined 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to multiple sexual abuse charges.

Court records show that Hartley E. Canini pleaded guilty on Monday in Adams County Circuit Court to charges of predatory criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a child.

As part of his negotiated plea, one count of predatory criminal sexual assault was dismissed.

An Oct. 4, 2018, indictment from an Adams County grand jury alleged Canini had sexual contact with a boy under age 13 between Jan. 1 and April 1, 2018, and another boy under age 13 on Aug. 5, 2018.

Canini was sentenced to 10 years for the predatory criminal sexual assault charge, which must be served at 85 percent. He was sentenced to six years for the aggravated criminal sexual abuse charge and two years for the sexual exploitation charge, which are served at 50 percent.

The sentences were mandatory to be served consecutive. He received credit for 169 days already served in the Adams County Jail since his arrest last September.
