QUINCY -- Free Fallin, a Tom Petty tribute band, will bring its Legacy tour to Quincy Junior High School's Morrison Theater at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4.

As a celebration of 50 years of Dogwood in Quincy, the tribute band will play the greatest hits of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The concert is presented by Friends of the Washington Theater and proceeds will go toward the renovation of the theater on Hampshire between Fourth and Fifth streets in Quincy.

Free Fallin has been performing the music of Tom Petty for 11 years. The band's 2018 tour included more than 90 shows in 15 states. The band was even invited to play at Petty's "Birthday Weekend" in Florida, where 26,000 fans from all over the world gathered to celebrate Petty's legacy. The show will feature the best hits of Petty including the instruments and costumes that re-create the authentic experience of a Tom Petty concert. The concert is the first of several major fundraising events this year for the Washington Theater. A Big Band event hosted by Hansen-Spear is slated for Sept. 27 and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is on tap for October. Entertainment of this type is just one of the proposed uses of the Washington Theater. Once its restoration is complete, the theater will be able to accommodate large crowds.

Tickets for the concert go on sale April 1 and are $25 for general admission and $30 for reserved seating. Tickets may be purchased at Hy-Vee and County Market stores in Quincy plus Second String Music at Fifth and Maine. Tickets also may be purchased on the Washington Theater's website quincywashingtontheater.org. Tickets also will be available at the door.

The Quincy High School Jazz Band will perform before Free Fallin's concert begins.
