QUINCY -- A former Quincy resident serving time in the Illinois Department of Corrections faces a possible life sentence in prison after he was indicted by an Adams County grand jury on two sexual assault charges.
Bradley S. Thomas, 37, made his first appearance Wednesday in Adams County Circuit Court, charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
Because of a previous conviction of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child in LaSalle County, a life sentence would be mandated if he is convicted of either charges.
Thomas is serving a 25-year sentence for his 2018 conviction.
The indictment alleges that Thomas sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13 twice in 2014.
Adams County Assistant State's Attorney Anita Rodriguez said that a report was made against Thomas by a boy who previously lived in Quincy.
Thomas is set to appear next week with his attorney, Public Defender Chris Pratt.
