QUINCY -- Blessed Sacrament Parish will sponsor a screening of the anti-abortion movie "Unplanned" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the AMC Showplace 6 in Quincy.
The movie tells the story of Abby Johnson, the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic who had a change of heart about abortion and became an anti-abortion activist.
The film opens in theaters on Friday, but "we had an opportunity to bring it for a showing here," said the Rev. Chris Comerford with Blessed Sacrament. "They hadn't planned on showing it in Quincy, but we wanted to have a showing for those who wished to see it."
Comerford said the film offers an interesting perspective on Johnson's change of heart, a powerful way to help those "on edge" about the abortion debate and an opportunity "for those who support life to strengthen them in their conviction for that."
Tickets are $8 each.
The screening is sold out, but names still are being added to a waiting list because "we're trying to get a bigger theater because of the greater interest," Comerford said.
