Prep softball roundup: Blue Devils' Neally shuts down Indians

Abbie Neally tossed a two-hit shutout and drove in a key run as the Quincy High School softball team earned a 2-0 victory over Payson Seymour on Tuesday in Payson, Ill.

Cheyenne Burgess and Tori Schieferdecker combined to allow only five hits for Payson (4-3). Neally drove in the first run with a third-inning sacrifice fly that plated Kiley Espinoza. In the fourth inning, Espinoza walked with the bases loaded to double the lead for the Blue Devils (11-2).

Rushville-Industry 11, Mendon Unity 10: The Mustangs scored seven runs over the final two innings to tie the game at 10, but the Rockets erased the comeback with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh in Rushville. It snapped Unity's seven-game win streak.

Rushville's Madalyn Belville singled home Elliott Stinson with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning for the winning run. Unity outhit Rushville 10-4 as Krista Schrader had two hits and a home run and Addison Miller added a double.

Central 6, Macomb 5: Makayla Crim threw six innings and earned the victory for the Panthers (9-5) in Camp Point. The Panthers (9-5) scored first with two runs in the first inning. Central's Macie Reuschel went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

Brown County 5, Griggsville-Perry 4: Brown County broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning when Jordan Craven singled home the winning run.

Claire Markert of Brown County (6-12) went seven innings and struck out 11 to earn the victory. Allison Prather went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Hornets.

West Hancock 16, Southeastern 0: The Titans scored 14 runs in the first two innings in Bowen. Brooklyn Walker went 3 for 3 while throwing four shutout innings and surrendering one hit for the Titans (7-4). Anna Walker added four runs while going 3 for 3.

Greenfield 13, Pleasant Hill 1: Kaylee Smith provided the lone highlight for Pleasant Hill (2-9) by hitting a homer in the first inning. Greenfield (3-6) pounded out 13 hits.

Jacksonville Routt 4, Liberty 2: Lawren Ruths had a two-run double in the sixth to pull the Eagles within 4-2 but that's where the rally ended in Jacksonville. Routt (9-1) plated a run in the first, two in the third and one in the fifth to lead 4-0. Brynn Krutmeier had two hits for the Eagles, who struck out 10 times and only had five hits. Krutmeier also threw five innings and took the loss.
