HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis will sponsor its 32nd annual Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. Saturday on the campus of Hannibal-LaGrange University, near the Mabee Sports Complex along Mo. 168 in Hannibal.
Doors to the Mabee Sports Complex will open at 8:30 a.m. The event will start at 9 a.m. with prize giveaways donated by local merchants and industries in the Hannibal area. Each child will receive one "free" ticket for these prizes, and additional chances can be purchased for $1 per ticket.
The hunt for over 10,000 plastic eggs will begin at 10 a.m. As in past years, the hunt will be broken down into three age groups: toddlers to age 3, children ages 4 to 6, and children ages 7 through 9. All children must be able to walk or run on their own. The egg hunt is free to the public, and every child in attendance will receive a free goodie bag. This year the Easter Bunny also will be present to greet children and be available for picture opportunities.
Letters have been mailed to members of the business and industrial community thanking them for their support in the past and requesting contributions or donations to this year's event.
Any member of the community who would like to donate toward this event may do so by sending a donation payable to Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 1233, Hannibal, MO., 63401-1233, or by contacting one of the club members listed below.
All funds received will be used to purchase additional prizes for the children in attendance at this event, as it is not a fundraiser for the club but a community service project sponsored by the Spiritual Aims and Youth Service Committees.
