Megan Boccardi, associate professor of history at Quincy University and chairman of the Division of Behavioral and Social Science, has been chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to participate in an American history seminar on "The Civil War in American Memory" on June 23-27 at Yale University in New Haven, Conn.

Kimberly Gaither, associate dean for student success and assessment at Culver-Stockton College, has been selected by the Council of Independent Colleges to participate in the 201920 Senior Leadership Academy. People chosen for the yearlong program are leaders in higher education who have been identified by their institutions as having the potential for more senior leadership positions. Gaither will participate in the SLA's opening seminar Nov. 1-3 in Baltimore, and a closing seminar from June 21-23, 2020, in Washington, D.C. She has a doctorate in business administration from North Central University.

Krista Delany Manard, a former Quincy University student, in collaboration with Joseph R. Coelho, Quincy University professor of biology, had an article titled "Insects in Folk Music" published in American Entomologist, Volume 65, Issue 1, Spring 2019. The study examines values expressed toward arthropods in folk music. The study began as Manard's honors research project. She died in November 2017. Coelho has a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of California at Riverside and a Ph.D. in environmental, population and organismic biology from the University of Colorado.


Adam Kestner of Camp Point was given the Farmers National Co. Gold Eagle Award, its top award for real estate sales in 2018. Farmers National Co. is a farm and ranch management and brokerage company.

Heather J. Barnett of Hamilton, branch manager of Wells Fargo Advisers in Keokuk, Iowa, has been given the firm's Premier Advisor designation for the 15th consecutive year. She has a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Truman State University and a master of science in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Ryan Ramsey of Ramsey Financial Services Inc. in Bowen, has been honored with the President's Club distinction with Auto-Owners Insurance Co. for 2018. The President's Club honors the top 25- producing life, health and annuity agents nationwide for the company in a calendar year. This is the eighth time Ryan has been given the award.
