Area roundup: Raiders pile on goals in second half

The Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer team scored three goals in the second half on the way to a 4-0 victory over Burlington Notre Dame Monday in Burlington, Iowa.

Morgan Evans scored twice in the second half with a goal in the 46th minute to make it 2-0, and the final goal coming in the 56th minute. Erin Barnes scored twice for QND (13-2) with a goal in 29th and 55th minutes.

Goalkeeper Madison L. Meyer had her 10th shutout.

QND registered 23 shots.

Capital City Invitational: The Hannibal boys golf team earned seventh of 22 teams at Meadowlake Acres Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo.

Hunter Parker led Hannibal with an 82 to earn 20th place. Preston Bennett followed with an 83 and tie for 23rd, and Gabe Keesy shot an 87 to tie for 41st place. Courtland Watson rounded out the team score with a 96 and tied for 73rd overall. Hannibal shot a 348 team total.

Athens Girls Meet: Five first-place finishes led the Central girls track and field team to a second place finish.

Central finished with 62 points, behind only Petersburg PORTA, who finished with 78 points. Heidi Turner and Lauren Gille took a first and second place in the 100-meter dash for the Panthers, with Turner finishing in 13.21 seconds, and Gille in 13.70.

Caylee Hughes and Hannah Beckman also went first and second in the 200.

Leah Turner claimed first place in the 400 at 1:05.67.

Missouri Baptist 16, Hannibal-LaGrange baseball 5: The Trojans fell behind 12-1 after five innings and couldn't catch up on the road.

HLGU trailed 2-0 before Chet Merritt's RBI single scored Lane Thebeau in the third.

Merritt doubled in the seventh to score Thebeau.

GLVC Golf Championships: The Quincy University men's golf team ended its season with a 13th place finish.

The Hawks finished the third day of competition with a total score of 965 strokes. The University of Missouri-St. Louis won with a score of 865.

Nick Messinger led the Hawks with a 51st place finish with a score of 238.
