HANNIBAL, Mo. -- A Hannibal man faces child abuse charges in connection with injuries to a 3-year-old who is hospitalized in St. Louis.
Christopher Walker, 23, was arrested Saturday and taken to the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold. A warrant issued Sunday by Marion County Court charged Walker with three counts of abuse or neglect of a child.
Hannibal police officers were requested by the Marion County Children's Division to respond to Hannibal Regional Hospital at 1:06 p.m. Saturday to assist with a possible child abuse case. The Hannibal Police Department said officers contacted the 3-year-old who had a dislocated and fractured left elbow as well as multiple bruises on both legs, arms and scalp.
The child was taken into protective custody, HPD said, and taken to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital for further care.
Walker remains in the Marion County Jail with bond set at $100,0000 cash only.
