Quincy native, associate producer for Broadway revival, celebrates Tony nominations

NEW YORK -- A Quincy native whose company is an associate producer for the Broadway revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical "Oklahoma!" is celebrating, after the musical was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.

Ryan Jude Tanner is a 1997 graduate of Quincy High School and co-founder of the production company Square 1 Theatrics, which is an associate producer of "Oklahoma!" The revival of the show opened April 7 at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre.

The American Theatre Wing announced the Tony award nominations for the 2018-2019 season Tuesday morning.

"Oklahoma!" is also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Damon Daunno; Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical, Ali Stoker and Mary Testa; Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Laura Jellinek; Best Sound Design of a Musical, Drew Levy; Best Direction of a Musical, Daniel Fish; and Best Orchestrations, Daniel Kluger.

Square 1 Theatrics, also founded by Jay Krottinger, is based in Tulsa, Okla. Founded in 2012, the company won a 2013 Tony Award for the revival of Stephen Schwartz's "Pippin." Square 1 Theatrics has two other productions on Broadway -- "Come From Away" and "Waitress." Both productions also are on North American and international tours. "Come From Away" opened in London's West End on Feb. 18 and won the Oliver Award on April 7, 2019.
