O'FALLON, Mo. -- Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer coach Mark Longo compared Friday night's game against St. Dominic to an energetic, entertaining hockey game.

"The action was back and forth," Longo said.

Finding a way to win such a game bodes well for the Raiders with the postseason looming.

Isabella Anderson flicked a header off a Meredith Siebers throw-in inside the far post with four minutes remaining in the second overtime, lifting QND to a 3-2 victory in its regular-season finale.

"It was a good win for us and a good test," said Longo, whose team opens Class 2A regional play Wednesday against Metamora at Peoria Notre Dame. "We came out against a good team and attacked."

That put the Raiders (22-2) in control.

In the 13th minute, Taylor Keck collected a feed from Morgan Evans and hit a shot from about 15 yards out that carried over the St. Dominic keeper for a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, on a loose ball in the middle of the field, QND's McKenna Little beat the St. Dominic keeper to the spot and touched the ball into the net from about 20 yards out.

"She just hustled," Longo said. "I think she caught them by surprise because their defense didn't react to her sticking with the play until it was too late."

Four minutes into the second half, St. Dominic's Grace Osvath hit a shot from 40 yards out that carried over the head of QND goalkeeper Madison L. Meyer to trim the deficit in half.

"She kicked it as hard as she could," Longo said. "I'm not sure it was intended to be a shot, but it carried right into the net."

The Panthers tied the game in the 58th minute when Anna Stiffler scored an unassisted goal.

Both teams had chances throughout the remainder of regulation and overtime, finishing with 15 shots apiece.

The last one was a rare header flick, something the Raiders don't do often. With the ball going out of bounds near the corner, Longo had Siebers do a long throw-in Anderson was able to win in the air.

"It was a great finish," Longo said.
