JWCC names Student Life Award winners

QUINCY -- John Wood Community College recently announced Student Life Awards for the 2018-19 academic year.

Recipients were chosen based on contributions to JWCC clubs and organizations, community involvement, leadership, academics, and embodiment of the college's core values of excellence, accountability, integrity, servant leadership and lifelong learning.

Amelia Smith of Quincy received the Outstanding First Year Student Award. She will serve as the 2019-20 Student Government Association president.

Madison Fox of Augusta was selected as Outstanding Returning Student.

Jennifer Watkins of Quincy received the Outstanding Non-Traditional Student Award. Watkins served as vice president of the Alpha Tau Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

Jennifer Grindstaff and Maria Richmiller were honored with Advisor of the Year Awards. Grindstaff is a language and communication instructor and an advisor for Phi Theta Kappa. Richmiller is JWCC's student services administrative assistant.

Phi Theta Kappa was selected as Student Organization of the Year. Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year college students.
