HULL, Ill. -- A team from Hannibal, Mo., won the Ultimate Outdoor 3-on-3 Challenge competition Saturday, May 11, at Gardner Camp.

The team is donating the $500 first prize to the newly formed Liberty (Ill.) High School Bass Fishing Team.

The winning team was called the Out of Towners. Members were Noelan Meyer, Evan Flaspohler and Mark Houser. The competitors topped 11 other teams from junior highs and high schools in West-Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri. Competitors participated in an air rifle shoot, trap shoot, 3-D archery shoot and a team kayak relay race.

The Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen Association sponsored the event.

Amy Lefringhouse, Gardner Camp executive director, said the event was designed for youths with a love for outdoor sports.

"There are local trap leagues and archery tournaments in the area, and we wanted to offer a challenge that combined those skills into one competition at one place," Lefringhouse said.

The second place winner was a team that had traveled from Higbee (Mo.) High School. The third-place team had competitors representing both Quincy Senior High School and Payson Seymour High School. Other teams were from Louisiana (Mo.) R-II School District, Western Junior High School, Rushville-Industry High School, Palmyra (Mo.) High School, Quincy Christian School and Liberty Junior High School.
