QUINCY -- Beginning Monday, May 20, city employees will begin collecting the orange-colored recycling totes from Quincy households that are no longer participating in the city's recycling program.

As of May 1, curbside recycling became an opt-in program where residents register at City Hall and agree to be charged $5 per month. The fee is applied to the resident's utility bill.

Those who wish to participate but have not registered can call the utility bill department at 217-228-4580. Residents also can enroll at Quincy City Hall during business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

City crews will retrieve the recycling totes on the regular trash and recycling pickup day.

For questions or additional information, call the city at 217-228-4500.
