PEORIA, Ill. -- It won't be easy to stonewall an opposing offense the way the Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer team shut down Metamora on Wednesday night, but the Raiders are proving to be pretty stingy.
The Redbirds managed just one shot as the Raiders plowed their way into the Class 2A Peoria Notre Dame Regional championship game with a 3-0 victory.
QND (23-2) will face Peoria Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Friday for the regional title.
The Raiders, who are the two-time defending Class 1A state champions bumped up in class this season, grabbed the lead in the third minute when Taylor Keck carried the ball to the left corner and crossed it into the penalty area.
Meredith Siebers, crashing from the right wing, redirected the ball with her right foot and shot it off the goalkeeper's hands and into the net for a 1-0 lead.
Midway through the first half, Morgan Evans played a corner kick into a dangerous area and McKenna Little hit a one-timer for the goal and a 2-0 lead.
They reversed roles for the final goal in the 70th minute. Little flighted a ball into the box and Evans headed it in for the three-goal advantage.
