Scotland County's Woods wins long jump title

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Scotland County's Matthew Woods is bringing back two state medals from the Class 1 state track and field meet.

One of those is a state championship.

Woods won the long jump at 22 feet, .5 inches Saturday afternoon at Adkins Stadium. He also took third in the 100-meter dash in 11.51 seconds. Scotland County finished 11th with 21 points.

Knox County's Logan Miller also won two medals. He finished fourth in the discus at 143-2 and was seventh in the javelin at 148-2.

On the girls side, Knox County's Jaiden Linebaugh earned two individual medals along with two from relay teams.

She took fifth in the 200 in 26.46, and she was sixth in the 100 in 12.82.

The 4x200 relay team of Linebaugh, Sidney Miller, Madison Easley and Alyssa Peavely finished third in 1:49.83. The same team took fifth in the 4x100 in 52.91.
