Helicopter pilot walks away from crash uninjured

PITTSFIELD, Ill. -- The pilot of a helicopter that crashed Thursday morning walked away from the incident uninjured.

Reiss Harper, 26, of Perry, La., had been piloting a Bell 206 helicopter. Harper was spraying a wheat field just east of Pike County Highway 3 on 270th Ave., according to information supplied by the Pike County Sheriff's Department.

The cause of the crash, which occurred at 11:40 a.m., is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Also responding to the scene were the Pittsfield Fire Department, Pike County EMS and the Pike County Emergency Management Agency.
