QUINCY -- The Quincy Memorial Bridge was scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning after being closed for roughly two weeks because of Mississippi River floodwaters.
Illinois Department of Transportation officials planned a 9 a.m. opening of the bridge, which closed May 28.
The river in Quincy crested at 31.16 feet on June 1, just below the record crest of 32.13 feet on July 13, 1993.
When the bridge was closed, eastbound traffic was diverted onto the Quincy Bayview Bridge, where two-way traffic was maintained with IDOT barrels serving as lane dividers.
Memorial Bridge also was closed May 1 because of flooding and reopened May 10 after the Mississippi River receded.
