QUINCY -- Voting is now open for the fourth annual Readers' Choice Awards where the winners are selected by readers.

Sponsored by the The Herald-Whig and WGEM the contest asks area residents to vote for their favorite Tri-State businesses in 87 categories, including restaurants, hotels, bar/tavern, grocery store and fitness center.

"Because readers feel so strongly about a lot of their favorite businesses, restaurants and other places that they visit, this is their opportunity to really voice their favorites," said Crystal Schneider, marketing manager for The Herald-Whig. "The great news about voting is that it's form filled, so they write in or type in their favorites."?The Readers' Choice Awards features six new categories this year, including coffee shop and veterinarian.

"We have categories that cover all areas of people's lives," Schneider said. "Anything you're doing in your life to be healthy or to fix up your house or car, or treat yourself to a nice meal, the ballot covers it."

Online voting can be completed by visiting whig.com/contests and clicking on the Readers' Choice Awards logo.

A print ballot (available in today's issue) can also be mailed in.

Last year, more than 60,000 votes were cast for the Readers' Choice Awards.

Online voting is open through July 19, but all print ballots must be postmarked by July 12 in order to tabulate the votes.
