CARTHAGE, Ill -- The Hancock County Independence Day Celebration will be held Thursday at the historic Carthage Square.

The event begins with breakfast and a community church service followed by the parade at 10 a.m. "Freedom! Farmers! Family! Friends!" is the theme for this year's parade.

After the parade, the square will be filled with music, games, food and craft vendors. The Cornhole Tournament returns on the southeast corner of the courthouse. Carthage Clipper Fire Department will host the annual water fight on the west side of the square.

After the Presentation of Colors at noon, the Hancock County Community Choir will perform. It will be followed by several individuals and groups who will pay tribute to area veterans and the country.

The day's festivities will end with a fireworks display near Illini West High School. For more information, contact Amy Graham at 217-357-3800 or ccdc@carthage-il.com.
